Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena witness aftermath of L.A. gang shooting

Jake Gyllenhaal has just come back from Iceland for Man vs. Wild, but he keeps finding action, wherever he goes.

The actor, 30, joined his End of Watch colleague Michael Pena for a police ride-along in Los Angeles, in preparation for their roles in the cop drama.

Wednesday night the two actor rode along with police escort Sgt. Tammy Bowen, when they witnessed the aftermath of what has been described as a gang shooting at Van Ness Park in the 5700 block of South 2nd Avenue.

LAPD officials have stated that the victim was shot in the lip and arm and has been treated for non-life threatening injuries. The victim remains unidentified, but it was said that he/she refused to cooperate with the authorities. As of yet, no suspects have been identified. The LAPD officials added that it wasn't the first time that Jake had been on a police ride-along.
